gave the bad guys a rewatch. i was briefly hyperfixated on it when i watched it the first time and they're apparently making a sequel for it, which i'm cautiously optimistic about. so it just made sense to revisit the movie. it's such a fun time. the characters are charming, endearing and well written. there's good emotional beats and the dynamics between the characters are all interesting. the story itself is pretty basic, but the journey is very enjoyable. the villain is by far the biggest drawback, i think in general the ending was a little strange, there were too many twists that didn't add much and i think they could have done something more interesting with snake? like, him betraying the team and then regretting it could have been very interesting, but i guess what they went with makes sense. the thing about the villain planning everything from the start was. too much though. and also the part about the popsicle, but that comes across as more humorous to me. either way, while i do think they got a little sloppy with some things at the end, it's a really charming movie that is very worth your time if you want a fluffy, entertaining kids movie that doesn't take itself too seriously while still having a lot of heart. every scene just drips with charisma. it's a sweet, feel good story that has a basic but well constructed message, so i'm very fond of it. and also, goes without saying, but the animation is spectacular and just such a treat to look at.
