what the subject title says, i want to talk about all the music i listened to this month.
in terms of albums/extended plays, i listened to:
hozier by hozieri hadn't listened to hozier in a few years, so it felt really good to revisit his work. i really don't have much to say. it's a great album with great lyricism. what else could i possibly add?
fav song: my favorite hozier song always changes, but this time i found myself really into someone new. it's so incredibly pretty to listen to and it just really gets stuck in my head.
least fav: i feel soooo bad saying this because i know people love this one, and it is a really great song, but foreigner's god. i DO like it, it just doesn't have much for me melodicallly. it's still a very beautiful song though! i don't think this album has any bad songs.
rockyst by rocky
i enjoyed it! nothing i'm crazy about, but it was a solid debut.
fav song: find me. it sounds soooo pretty. i heard that this is a song he originally planned to release with astro, but was never allowed to. and it makes perfect sense, because this screams astro. rocky's singing also really shines here, he has such a lovely voice. i guess this really goes to show how held back he was creatively.
least fav: chameleon. this song is NOT good. i see what he was going for but it came out really tacky. i honestly was really vibing with it in the beginning but godddd the voice distortion really brings it down. this really feels like it should have been reworked a few more times.
beautiful people will ruin your life by the wombats
this was such a huge delight to listen to. i think this was my favorite album i listened to this month. i generally have a hard time listening to albums in one sitting, so i tend to take breaks in between, but when i put this on i could not bring myself to pause because i was just having such a good time. i absolutely love how the instruments sound in this and the singer has such a nice voice. i've been meaning to get into the wombats for a few years now, and after this i'll definitely be checking out more of their work.
fav song: this is actually really hard! i've had many of the songs on repeat since i first listened to it, so it's difficult to say... i think if i had to choose, i would have to say lemon to a knife fight. that song is soooo good. i love everything from the lyrics, to the singing, to the way the instruments sound. i just can't get sick of it. maybe i'm a little biased, because i knew this song before listening to the album and was already obsessed with it, but that was probably for a reason. this just really fits my taste.
least fav: i only wear black. i do like it! i don't think this album has any bad songs. but i know i won't be coming back to this one very frequently.
good to you by nine to six
what a disappointment, man, i think this is the first time i've felt underwhelmed by a dkz release, or dkz adjacent in this case, i guess. still, this was boring, uninspired, it was nothing.
fav song: digital love. this one wasn't bad, it had charm, but it's nothing super memorable.
least fav: don't call me. booooring.
in terms of stand alone songs, here's some new music i've discovered:
