May. 6th, 2024 12:41 pmI did pretty much everything I planned to yesterday, except for studying. No escaping that today though. I need to be ready for my exam.
I watched a movie with a friend last night. Every month we pick a bad movie to watch and then a good movie for the next week. Last night we watched airplane mode, the shitty Logan Paul movie. Legitimately the most annoying and one of the most uncomfortable viewing experiences I've ever had. So much of the humor was just downright disgusting. It's insane, because last time we watched a bad movie, we picked sausage party and we thought that was the worst thing we had ever watched, but this still somehow managed to be worse.
Anyway, my plans for today include:
-Studying.
-Language practice.
-Watch a movie. A good one this time.
-Read more DN
-Read some fanfics I've been saving up.
-Message two of my friends I've been meaning to contact.
-Watch more Drag Race, because I really need to finish that show.

watched bones and all with a friend
Apr. 8th, 2024 01:21 am really good film! my friend had seen it before but this was my first time watching it. loved both of the main characters and it was very fun watching it with all the potential readings in mind.
my personal interpretation, is that it's about mental illness. the hereditary aspects, the compulsions that hurt you and others but that you cannot control, the shame, the isolation and the general message of learning to love yourself and others like you. i think the movie plays a lot into cannibalism as a metaphor for just the "other" in general. but mental illness struck me the most, because the compulsive, horrifying and harmful aspects feel especially true in that scenario.
it was a bit gross and hard to watch at times, but not to the point where i didn't want to keep watching, but obviously be mindful before watching it. it is a movie about cannibalism and there's a lot of gore and gross shit that comes with that premise.
overall i was very glad to have seen it, and i think i would love to revisit it at some other point.

Mar. 27th, 2024 07:19 pm gave the bad guys a rewatch. i was briefly hyperfixated on it when i watched it the first time and they're apparently making a sequel for it, which i'm cautiously optimistic about. so it just made sense to revisit the movie. it's such a fun time. the characters are charming, endearing and well written. there's good emotional beats and the dynamics between the characters are all interesting. the story itself is pretty basic, but the journey is very enjoyable. the villain is by far the biggest drawback, i think in general the ending was a little strange, there were too many twists that didn't add much and i think they could have done something more interesting with snake? like, him betraying the team and then regretting it could have been very interesting, but i guess what they went with makes sense. the thing about the villain planning everything from the start was. too much though. and also the part about the popsicle, but that comes across as more humorous to me. either way, while i do think they got a little sloppy with some things at the end, it's a really charming movie that is very worth your time if you want a fluffy, entertaining kids movie that doesn't take itself too seriously while still having a lot of heart. every scene just drips with charisma. it's a sweet, feel good story that has a basic but well constructed message, so i'm very fond of it. and also, goes without saying, but the animation is spectacular and just such a treat to look at.

Mar. 18th, 2024 04:19 pm gave surf's up a rewatch. i hadn't seen it in like a decade, but it was one of my favorite movies as a kid. honestly, it still holds up really well! it's fun, it's charming, it's got good emotional beats, the characters are all endearing and have fun dynamics with each other, it's hilarious... yeah, i remembered it being good, but not THIS good. will definitely rewatch it at a later point again.
