I want to make more posts talking about the music I listen to, so here's a more proper rant about stuff I've been listening to lately.

In terms of albums, I listened to:

One-X by Three Days Grace: Very good album, no further elaboration needed. I've come to notice that, for me, the things I like the least in Three Days Grace songs are often the choruses. Excluding some of their more popular songs, I definitely feel like a lot of their choruses lack punch, for lack of a better word. I wish they were a little more energetic, I don't know. But I do like Three Days Grace, and I enjoyed this more than their debut. I think I'm biased because some of the songs here are very nostalgic for me. Pain in particular has such a special place in my heart. I used to listen to it so much when I was 13 and to this day, it still hits. There's just not a single second of the song that I don't enjoy, it's great. Animal I have Become is also such a classic, and rightfully so. The amount of shitty AMVs of this song I watched as a kid.... Let It Die is another big favorite of mine. It feels a little more generic compared to some of their other songs, but there's just something so sentimental about it that I find very comforting. The singing is always really good with their song, but it particularly hits me with this one. I also really like Gone Forever, it's another one of those songs where almost every second really works for me.

To mend the sun by Jhariah: I guess this technically shouldn't count since it's an extended play, but I don't care, I can do what I want. I enjoyed it, but I don't have too much to say. Jhariah is a really fun artist, and this is either him updating songs he had already released or songs that he would later release again, so I was familiar with a lot of the songs here already. I think the newer versions of the old songs are a definite improvement. I tried listening to the album the songs originate from and I found them really grating, but the versions in this release sound so much better to me. He gets even better in the future, which is cool to see. The biggest highlight to me is the piano version of Reverse, it sounds great. I really think making it a piano song helped the tone of the song significantly compared to the original. I'm going to be listening to it a lot.

In terms of stand alone songs, I listened to:

Lalalala by Stray Kids: Good song, with a very fun energy. Definitely an earworm for me but I found it really weak compared to some of the recent Stray Kids releases. I don't know if I would call it generic, but it's not super interesting to me, even though I can acknowledge it's a banger. I appreciate the rock version, even if I'm not going to listen to it much because I don't think it works as well as the original. It would be interesting to see them venture more into that genre in the future, I think it weirdly suits them. I might check out the rest of the album some other time.

Eat your friends by Jhariah ft Pinkshift: More Jhariah! Not my thing, I found it a little grating. It's such a shame, the last Jhariah collab with a rock lean to it was really appealing to me, but this one doesn't do it for me.
