 i have a friend who, for as long as i've known him, has been really sucidal. and lately it seems like that's become a bigger issue for them. i'm not sure what to do. i would be completely devastated if anything happened to them but they live in another country so there's no way for me to check on them. i'm just really scared they'll be alone for too long and do something.

I had a similar situation. I checked that my friend had the national suicide hotline saved. I made sure I was happy that she was my friend and did check ins with her and also talked about mundane things, fandom things etc. tried to establish a relationship where she couldn't just shut in completely.
