so i have finished transformers prime, and im here to yap about it like i said i would.
i thought it was good! very fun. the character designs are gorgeous, the animation is really good and nice to look at. the characters were enjoyable, though i did find most of the good guys a bit boring. the decepticons however? love them soooo much, super memorable.
it was very engaging. every episode i felt like something interesting was going on, so i don't feel like i ever had a dull moment with this show.
being said... i do think this show, as enjoyable as it was, had some major writing issues. i dont feel like there were a lot of really compelling character arcs. if anything, i really felt like the show was more concerned with moving the plot forward rather than letting any individual characters get their development. so they all feel very static.
the show is also very lacking in emotional depth. there's a lot of heavy shit that happens, but the writers refuse to let it sit with both the characters and the viewer. things that should have an impact often... dont.
the ending movie was also baffling to me. i thought it was super messy and like the conclusions we got came super out of nowhere, the pacing felt very weird. i really disliked it.
but overall, i would recommend this show. i did really like it after all! and even if the writers dont dwell on the things i really wish they did, there's enough there for me to flesh out in my own head.
my favorite character was starscream. he is soooo funny, and tragic, and just the perfect amount of angsty for me to latch onto. i looove him.
i think this was a good show to get me started on the transformers franchise. i'll be starting transformers animated soon, which im excited about because i had a bit of a tfa phase when i was like 13.
