Today hasn't been great. This week in general hasn't been great. I feel really ashamed of myself because I didn't do any of the things I meant to do. Well, I guess that's too harsh. I did some of them. But it doesn't feel like enough.
I've been thinking a lot about my desire to pursue some creative hobbies, and it just... scares me. What if I'm not good at it? I also lack patient. I know it takes time to develop a skill and I don't know how to deal with the frustration of not being able to get things right immediately. I think maybe I'll give it a shot during the weekends. I want to keep writing for my video essay. I want to learn how to draw. Maybe I would like to get into writing more properly.

I've been posting links about hobbies.

So what? It's just for fun. It's not for a grade or a job. It doesn't matter whether it looks like the picture on the box, if you enjoy doing it. That doesn't necessarily change how you feel, but do consider your motivation. Not everything is about being good.
You could pick an easy hobby, or within any given hobby, an easy project. Not everything needs to be complicated.
Also, not every hobby is about making or performing things. Birdwatching is a hobby. They do all the work. You just enjoy the show. Same is true for being a fan of any sport.

1) Patience is a skill that gets better with practice.
2) You could choose a hobby that yields fast results, like cooking, instead of a slow one like gardening.
3) Again, consider easy projects or hobbies. Not everything is hard to do.

Go for it!

Art and writing are great hobbies. There are Art communities and Writing communities on DW.
I have a couple posts with art links:
How to Draw for Beginners with Dexterity Issues
How to Learn Art on the Cheap
For drawing, consider something short like drabbles, which are enormously popular here. Or any of the short poetic forms like haiku.
I often encourage people to try dating hobbies. Give it a go for an evening. If you like it, do another project. If you don't like it, pick something else next time. Good methods include easy project kits and attending free or cheap workshops.
